Grüv is a shared electric scooter company that combines safety and reliability. Our scooters are an affordable and environmentally-friendly means of transportation that can be accessed throughout a city near you via a smartphone.

First you need to download the app. To do so simply download the ‘grüv app’ and you’ll be redirected to the appropriate download page for your mobile device.

To locate the nearest grüv scooter, simply access the grüv app. You’ll be taken to the map screen, showing all available grüv vehicles in your area. If you don’t see any vehicle icons displayed on the map, zoom out to search the wider.

To begin riding a grüv scooter, simply open the grüv app and tap on the “Ride” button at the bottom of the screen. From here, either scan the QR code using your phone’s camera or manually enter the vehicle code.

Grüv scooter can only be ridden on city designated paths — NOT ON SIDEWALKS. Please respect all traffic laws of your respective city.

Grüv scooters can only be parked in grüv designated areas, which can be identified via the grüv App. In any event do not block sidewalks, service ramps, bus stops and business entrances.

First, please be sure to park in the designated areas indicated through the App. To lock the grüv Scooter, follow the instruction printed on the Scooter, or through the app. Be sure to engage the kick stand below the footboard, then simply tap “End Ride” in the grüv app. You will be prompted to take a picture of your parked scooter to verify proper placement. After completing your ride, you will have the chance to provide feedback then you will be provided a trip summary.

Grüv charges a fixed rate to unlock a vehicle and then per minute as you ride. Rates and promotions may vary by city, day of the week and time of day. Please refer to your grüv app for exact costs by tapping on a vehicle on the map.

Simply enter your credit card information into the app and purchase credits you can use for future rides. Should you qualify for our any of our discount programs, those will be reflected in your transaction.

Yes. Mobility should be about providing access to the things all of us need – food, healthcare, work and education. We believe everybody should be able to get their grüv on! Grüv is committed to transportation equity, and we have developed the grüv Access Pass program to allow individuals from underserved communities to ride grüv scooters at a significantly reduced rate. 

30 minutes of daily riding time for just $5 per month.

Who qualifies:

  • Aged 18 or older
  • Currently enrolled in SNAP or Medicaid
  • Current participant in your local transit agency’s reduced fare program

How to apply:

  • Email proof of qualification for any of the above programs along with ID to
  • Upon verification, a grüv team member will respond with next steps.

Safety & Privacy

Yes. grüv scooters have been designated as an essential service in Oakland and San Jose for the benefit of city residents and to provide a safe transportation mode.

The health and safety of grüv’s community is a high priority for us. In light of the unfolding news concerning COVID-19 we want to inform you of the measures we’re taking to help protect riders as well as provide some suggestions concerning what you can do to help as a rider.

Measures grüv is taking:

Closely monitoring the situation.We’re following updates on COVID-19, including guidance from the Centers for DiseaseControl and Prevention (CDC) and local health officials. We’ll continue to take actions necessary to help prevent the spreadof the virus in the community.

Increasing our cleaning/hygiene efforts. We have equipped all grüv staff with disposable gloves for their shifts and have instituted an intensified scooter cleaning protocol. Our team members will be disinfecting scooter handlebars each and every time they come into contact with any unit – while deploying, rebalancing, rearranging, etc

Measures you can take:

Follow hygiene guidelines. Wash your hands frequently. Consider wearing disposable gloves when in public. Cover your nose and mouth if you have to sneeze or cough. And usehand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol content. Please stay home if you are sick to prevent unnecessary contamination risks.

Stay informed.The CDC and the World Health Organization (WHO) are updating their sites with the latest information.

Offer assistance to the most vulnerable among us. If you have neighbors, family, or acquaintances that have underlying issues that put them at higher risk if they go out inpublic, check in with them to see if you can help!

These are challenging times for all of us, but grüv is committed to maintaining the best level of service possible for our customers in the face of these challenges. We welcome your feedback and questions, should you have any.

While helmet laws vary from municipality to municipality, grüv recommends riders wear a helmet at all times. Whenever possible, grüv distributes helmets to the communities we serve as a way to keep our riders safe on the road. The grüv mobile app also educates users on the best practices when riding an e-scooter.

The Grüv app uses the GPS location on your phone to accurately show you Grüv vehicles that are in your vicinity.

The Grüv app uses your camera to enable vehicle unlocking via QR code. We also request that some riders submit a photo of their vehicle after a ride to ensure that it is parked correctly.

Grüv takes our riders’ data and privacy very seriously. GPS data is always anonymized before sharing with cities. Additionally, we do not sell rider data to third-party recipients, and a subpoena or other lawful process is required to access rider data in compliance with legal obligations. The speed of your grüv will depend on the top speed allowed by your city’s regulations — this top speed is typically set at 15 MPH. Some areas which are noted on your map are restricted ride/parking zones. Speed may be limited below 15 MPH in these zones.
